I found that in the 3.0 something should open up a whole lot more of Robot Building possibilities. The motors are both wireless and the cable is for the ultrasonic sensor. It was a long one so it had to be wrapped around the frame of the car. I don't know if sensors could go wireless too.
It would be really cool if sensor went wireless. Then there would be no worry for the rage of the wire!!!!!!:):D

Walking Biped
Here is a walking biped robot that is very good at moving around on two legs.
It as a very natural and fluid feel to it.
At the beginning it is just random moves but near the end there will be a bit a walking and stuff.

Voice control NXT
"With 'NXT Speech Control' you are able to control your NXT robot over voice commands. With this app you just have to fill in your commands e.g. 'hurry up', 'go away', 'hide' to the prepared nxt-commands (forward, backward, left, right) and then choose the speed and distance."Pretty cool eh? It's made for Andriod. It's called NXT Speech Control.
Blast OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lizards
This is a build from the Unofficial Lego Mindstorms NXT 2.0 Inventors Guide.

This book is an updated version of David J. Perdue's original Inventor's Guide. For this revision, David revised the theory chapters and I've created the new project section. This includes six robot projects, with building instructions, programs and further exploration activities. All activities can be done with just one NXT 2.0 kit.
One of the robots is the Lizard, which also appears on the cover. It's a four legged animal that responds to different color signals. Blue accounts for normal behavior; Red colors will make it aggressive, and Green is food -- listen to what it says after I give a green signal, he's well raised!

Robot Spongebob
I know this is not NXT related but it has to do with robots.
This is probably what Spongebob looks like inside without his soft exterior.

NXT meets The President
A few days ago Obama took a tour at Intel facilities in Oregon and learning from young science students there on their bio-medical LEGO® MINDSTORMS robots.
Here what he said:
"I used to build some pretty mean LEGO towers when I was a kid,” the president told an audience of mostly Intel employees. I thought I could participate, only these students used their LEGO’s to build models, to build robots that were programmable, to model brains that could repair broken bones.”
The crowd erupted in laughter when the president, seemingly exasperated joked “so I guess that’s different than towers.”
There were some times where not even the President knows what people are talking about.
It was a sobering experience for the Harvard educated leader of the free world. Young people, the ages of his two daughters Sasha and Malia, talking “about things like quantum ternary algorithms,” the president said then added “it gave me a chance to nod my head and pretend that I understood what they were talking about.”
So no matter how old you are there are still things to be learnt.

Building Instructions
Great ones in the nxtprograms.com and at http://mindstorms.lego.com/en-us/support/buildinginstructions/8547/Bonus%20Model%201.aspx
For those of you that have HiTechnic sensor there are a few models to build at http://www.hitechnic.com/models
And look at www.nxtprograms.com for stuff for NXT 1.0 and 2.0
Another site but with a little more complicated stuff, http://mynxt.matthiaspaulscholz.eu/index.html might need
some extra pieces
Also another random site: http://robotics.bendettelli.com
